Standard First Aid (SFA) REFRESHER course

The Standard First Aid Course (SFA) Refresher is designed to provide participants with both practical and theoretical skills and knowledge necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations involving adult casualties. This course covers critical areas such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Most importantly, it emphasize maintaining self-confidence, composure, and the ability to reassure others during stressful moments. This refresher course enhances participants’ readiness and competence in life-saving techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle emergencies with confidence and precision.

Standard First Aid Course (SFA) Refresher equips participants with the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to react during emergencies to Adult casualties, perform CPR and use the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) while maintaining self-confidence, composure and assurance to others.
Standard First Aid Course follows these guidelines specified by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).

COURSE INFORMATION

This course is for both Full and Refresher participants. The duration cannot be further compressed for Refresher participants.

Previously, the Refresher course (1.5 days) was shorter than the Full course (2 days) due to a shorter duration of time spent on the theory component. As all theory components are done online now via blended learning, both Full and Refresher participants will need to attend the 1-day session together to complete the practical components and assessments.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Schedule and Course Duration

The course is originally 20 hours.

But with the blended learning (a combination of ONLINE and ONSITE classes), it is reduced into 1 day OnSite Assessment.

Participants can study the theory classes online, anytime, anywhere

Can I use my SkillsFuture Credit?

YES! Our Standard First Aid Course (SFA) is a SkillsFuture-eligible Course.
Your SkillsFuture Credit can cover up to 50-70% of the course fee (excluding GST).

For individuals from government agencies or MOE schools, we can submit an e-invoice. Send an email to admin@arise.com.sg with the name(s) of the participant(s) that you have registered, along with the e-invoicing instructions (such as department and sub-business unit).

For individuals from private organizations, send an email to admin@arise.com.sg with the name(s) of the participant(s) that you have registered and advise if you require to ARISE to apply for funding for your Singaporean/PR employees.

After receiving the participants’ registration information, ARISE will apply for funding and send you the invoice for the balance payable, which is subject to funding approval by SSG.

How Much Funding Will I Receive?

Who Is Eligible?

Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) above the age of 21 are eligible for SSG funding. The individual must be under your organization’s payroll. The funding amount is between up to 50-70% of course fees, depending on age and income level.

Terms and conditions apply for funding. Participants must complete the course to be eligible for funding. In the event your employee does not pass the course, you will need to make payment for the full course fee.

Declaration Of Medical Conditions

As part of the assessment requirements, participants must do 2 minutes of continuous chest compressions and this can be physically strenuous.  Participants experiencing the following medical conditions are advised not to participate.

 

  1. Now or has ever had or been bothered with any medical illnesses like back trouble, knee/joint/spinal injuries, heart trouble, high blood pressure, fainting spells, other physical conditions, or other medical disabilities or serious illness
  2. Is currently pregnant

If you proceed with the course, please seek your doctor’s advice for the green light to continue, and produce the doctor’s letter. If you opt-out of the CPR+AED assessment during the course, you will not pass the course and instead, receive a Certificate of Attendance.

The Standard First Aid Certification is one of the requirements for individuals to teach Standard First Aid

4) Appointed First Aiders

Where more than 25 persons are employed in a workplace, there shall be appointed in the workplace as first-aiders who shall be readily available during working hours the such number of persons as complies with the ratio of one first-aider for every 100 persons employed in the workplace or part thereof (Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations).

Between 2-4 working days after you register for the course, you will receive a separate email with your online account details to start your online learning. This will consist of readings, videos, and quizzes.

ABOUT STANDARD FIRST AID COURSE REFRESHER (BLENDED)

Standard First Aid + AED Course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to apply First Aid to Adult casualties and to use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safety. The course is following the guidelines and methodologies stipulated by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). Course accreditation is recognized by the National Registry of Coaches (Sports SG). The Standard First Aid + AED Course Certification is a requirement for all Singapore Sports Coaches to attain or renew their coaching license under Singapore Sports. CPR+AED Module is included in this Course.
