Customer Service Excellence (Level 1) course is for food/drink stall assistants, food services counter attendants, waiters, and waiter supervisors who need the knowledge and abilities to provide Go Extra Mile Service.
On successful completion, learners should be able to identify service triggers, and needs of customers so that they can effectively provide Go Extra Mile service. They will be able to handle service challenges and report to Management, when necessary.
Under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) for the food services sector, it is mandatory for workers to complete 2 approved courses. Customer Service Excellence (Level 1) course is on the list of approved PWM courses and will be accepted as one of the two mandatory courses.
Customer Service Excellence (Level 1) course is designed for food and drink stall assistants, counter attendants, waitstaff, and their supervisors. It teaches them to provide exceptional “Go Extra Mile” service by identifying customer service triggers, meeting customer needs, and handling service challenges. Importantly, it is an approved course under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) for the food services sector, satisfying one of the two mandatory course requirements for food services industry workers.

The Food Services Progressive Wage Model (PWM) will have a “run-in” period from 1 March 2023 to 31 August during which MOM will not take enforcement action against employers that have yet to comply with Food Services PWM requirements. One of the requirements is for workers to complete 2 WSQ courses from a list of approved courses of which Customer Service Excellence (Level 1) is one such course.
